Reiki is a Japanese technique that is used to heal physical and mental trauma, and to support mental clarity and spiritual well-being. Reiki is a therapy often described as palm healing or hands-on-body healing in which a practitioner places hands lightly on or over a patient’s body to facilitate the patient’s process of healing.

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
The healing effects are mediated by channeling the universal energy known as qi, pronounced “chi.” In India, this is known as “prana.” This is the same energy involved in tai chi exercise. It is the life force energy that some believe surrounds all of us. This energy is said to permeate the body. Reiki experts point out that, while this energy is not measurable by modern scientific techniques, it can be felt by many who tune in to it.
As a Reiki Master Teacher, I like to explain to my clients that Reiki is like car batteries. The client is the battery that is drained, sluggish, need of repair and I am the battery that is charged and ready to offer a “jump”. My hands work like the jumper cables and offer the reboot or healing.
Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction and relaxation. Many people use Reiki for wellness. Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings.
Reiki is used to aid relaxation, assist in the body’s natural healing processes, and develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
It is also used to induce deep relaxation, help people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and improve overall wellbeing.

Many people come to me and want to experience Reiki to see if it even “works” or is it all just a bunch of “fluff” and it is always my delight to walk them trough the Reiki Session / Treatment and then to get their feedback a few days after the Session. I have yet to work on someone who has not reported change. In Maui, HI I was blessed to work with my mother and work with Cancer Victims who were not able to get off the island for the bigger Western Medicine and could not afford treatments via Hospitals. These clients were often seeking us out as a last resort and felt like “what do I have to lose”. However, even the biggest skeptics were able to feel change and were able to see that the Reiki did offer aid for them.
When I preformed Reiki in Hotel Spa’s my clients who receive Reiki described it as “intensely relaxing.” They were always pleased to have had Reiki while on vacation. Some even stated that they enjoyed their vacation to a deeper level because of how relaxed they felt.
Here are some things that I have used Reiki to help clients with:

Over my 22 years as a Reiki Master Teacher I have worked with people from all over the world and I have had the pleasure to have Holistic Practices in San Diego, CA, Maui, HI, North Carolina and Joshua Tree, CA. The best part of working in such a variety of locations and in such different settings is that I have been able to see the TRUE healing that Reiki offers, work for so many.
Clients who have undergone a Reiki session have said:
- “I feel very refreshed and seem to be thinking more clearly.”
- “I think I fell asleep.”
- “I can’t believe how hot your hands got!”
- “I feel more relaxed than even after a massage.”
- “My headache is gone.”
- “I feel like I can move better.”
- “My wounds healed faster.”
- “My pet seems to be more at ease.”
- “My baby sleeps so much better after time with you.”
Cancer patients who have Reiki say they feel better after. I have personally had a client who was able to get off his pain medication and was reported to be responding to his medical treatments better while I was preforming Reiki. I love to work hand in hand with medical doctors. I feel that a true blessing when a client can integrate my treatments with their Western doctors the results are magnified. I have even gone to do Reiki on clients before they go see their Western Medicine Professional. This is be because it helps them relax and because the soothing effect helps my clients who become overwhelmed by invasive therapy, fear, and stress. This is often good for my IVF clients. In Vitro can be so stressful and that can hinder the results.
In any case whatever reason you decided to have Reiki or recommend Reiki to someone can vary.

Last thing I would like to mention: Many times my clients, after experiencing Reiki treatments, will wish to learn Reiki to work with this energy themselves by taking a Reiki I course. This can be beneficial as they may then use this stress reduction and relaxation tool anytime they wish when cost would prohibit it otherwise. I enjoy sharing Reiki with them and as an Educator it is my pleasure to help them with becoming certified in any of the modalities that offer classes in: Reiki, Crystal Healing, Chakra Balancing, Aromatherapy, Guided Imagery and setting up their own practice if they so desire!
Natural Therapies are such a wonderful option for many and can be done in the comfort of your own home. If you are interested in a session or classes just let me know.
